We are a small business located in eastern Ontario, Canada.

The owner is a long-time college teacher who has had an interest in issues of the developing world such as debt elimination and fair trade for many years. Recently, she decided to change careers and devote her time to selling fair trade products. Hopefully, she can now provide other people like herself with the opportunity to learn about other cultures through their handicrafts and to participate, albeit in a small way, to the development of micro-economies in emerging nations.

To ensure that the products she sells were fairly traded, they have been purchased from suppliers who are members of recognized organizations such as IFAT, the international fair trade organization or FTF, the American Fair Trade Federation.  Marie Olive also offers products which come from non profit organizations in Canada and elsewhere.

So when you buy a product through Marie Olive, you can be sure that the product is a fair trade product or that it benefits a worthwhile non profit organization.  

Finally, by their very nature, handicrafts are unique.  Therefore it may well be that the product you receive is a little different from the picture on the web site.  Rest assured, however, that if you are not entirely satisfied, Marie Olive will gladly give you your money back.
